The Inspiration

When I stepped onto the island of Rhodes, I saw a spectrum of color and form waiting to be translated into art. In Rhodes, every chipped cobblestone, pastel moped, and citrus-drenched grove became a pen stroke in my mind. As a printmaker obsessed with harmonizing contrasts, I found inspiration in the island’s dualities: raw, sun-bleached neutrals softened by playful pops of bougainvillea magenta and Mediterranean blue.

  1. Old Town Corner Bakery - a great pitstop to bit up some bits to bring with you to snack on at the beach. Lovely workers - I sat outside with the barista for ages chatting about the island and getting great tips.

  2. Ostreon by Dinoris - Fantastic seafood, I tried to go back the next night because there were too many good options to chose from (heads up - they were closed the 2nd night so check the hours)

  3. Louis Restaurant - I had my very first Moussaka here and I do not regret it. Very sweet staff and dreamy atmosphere for a cozy starlit dinner.

  4. Paralia Ixia - very accessible beach you can take the public bus to from old town. I have never seen such clear water in my life (shocking also for someone who grew up on a beach)

Rhodes is a visual dream: soft, sandy neutrals and sun-bleached tones set the stage, from vintage beach chairs to retro mopeds parked along coastal roads. As the sun sets, the skies turn a creamsicle orange while bursts of vibrant color shine from blooming flora, citrus fruits, and the bright blue accents of cafés.

I wanted to bottle that feeling - the warmth of worn-in summer, the clash of old and new, and translate it into pieces that feel both nostalgic and fresh.
