how to choose wall art for dining room

A mirror on a wall reflects a room decorated with various framed art pieces, including one with the phrase "So much... DOOM!" and another with the words "Let's get a drink" along with a drawing of a martini glass with olives. Part of a person’s arm and hand are visible as they hold the corner of the framed art, and a ceiling light hangs above.

Set the Scene

Size and layout matters! No two dining rooms are the same - so don’t be afraid to play with scale:

  • 1 Large Framed Print: For a clean, modern look

  • Gallery Wall: Mix and match 3–6 prints for a curated and lived in look

  • Diptych/Triptych: Great for symmetry lovers

Layouts are personal, so plan the right based on your own space and size capacity. Once you understand how you want to arrange the prints, we can start getting product ideas!

Vibe Check

Once you understand the layout of your dining room, it’s think about the vibe you want to create. Is it…

  • Chic and Natural

  • Bright and playful?

  • Vintage and cozy?

Wall art is one of the easiest way to set the tone (and affordably!) A large framed poster or a cluster of smaller prints can instantly shift the atmosphere from ‘meh’ to ‘memorable.

Choose a Theme

As a food enthusiast and lover of hosting, I spend a lot of time in my dining room - so I want to decorate it with art that celebrates my favorite foods and recipes. Finding a theme could make your walls look more cohesive and makes it a bit easier to shop. Some of our favorite dining room themes are below:

  • Kitchen Culture: Think pasta, wine, lemons, olive oil (like our "What's for Dinner" print)

  • Typography: Bold words, cheeky phrases, minimalist statements ( did someone say “Yes Chef”?)

  • Still Life: Vases, fruits, and table scenes - very European flat energy (think “Greek Oranges” during a Mediterranean summer)

  • Bar Chic: Cocktail motifs, wine prints, glassware shapes (queue my favorite question - “Let’s Grab a Drink”)

Once you’ve landed on a theme, we can get to the fun part - shopping! Combinations are hard to come up with, so I’ve created some of my favorites which you can find below.
